Gourmet Coffee Drinks with Liquor

Gourmet coffee drinks can be enhanced with a wide variety of flavors and spices, and the same is true for alcoholic beverages. However, among the most popular additions are rum and whiskey, as well as liqueurs such as brandy, cognac, crème de menthe, crème de cacao (including amaretto), anisette (including Irish cream), Kahlua and Tia Maria, Cointreau and Grand Marnier, Galliano and Frangelico (all of which are made in Italy). 

 

Drinks containing these liquors can be mixed together with coffee or espresso, whether it’s hot or cold brewed, and they can also be added to a cup of coffee on their own, if desired.

 

 If you prefer, you can also add a small amount of kirsch, vodka, tequila, or gin to your coffee along with curaçao, crème de banana, cherry liqueur, calvados, Benedictine, Tuaca, Strega, Sambuca, or Drambuie, depending on your personal preference and taste. 

 

Try varying the amount and combination of liquors you use in each drink, as well as the amount of coffee, milk, flavors and spices (if any), and other ingredients (if any) that you wish to include. Who knows? Some of your own interesting concoctions might emerge from this experience.

These beverages are created with freshly brewed coffee and should be served as soon as possible after preparation.

Bailey’s — Crème de Cacao (Coffee with Crème de Cacao)

Regardless of whether you use Frangelico or amaretto, the result will be a sweet, refreshing mixture that is guaranteed to please.

Variation: 1 teaspoon amaretto may be substituted for the Frangelico. Follow the steps outlined above.

Café Brûlot (Café Brûlot)

This is a delightful drink to make on a cold winter day since the act of preparing it is just as comforting as sipping the finished product.
1 ounce brandy or cognac (optional). 1 teaspoon white or brown sugar (depending on your preference)
2 full cloves of garlic
1 cinnamon stick (optional)
1 piece of orange peel
1 strip lemon peel 1 cup coffee 1 teaspoon sugar
teaspoon Cointreau or Grand Marnier, if desired (optional)
In a small saucepan, combine all of the ingredients (except the coffee and Cointreau) and simmer over low heat for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring regularly, until warm. Add the coffee and whisk it into the mixture until it is well-combined. Pour the liquid into a cup. If desired, garnish with Cointreau.

Kahlua — Coffee with Crème de Menthe

In a cocktail glass, combine the Kahlua and crème de menthe. Finish with whipped cream and cocoa powder on top of the coffee mixture.

Espresso Anisette:
